Description

The Aquabears swim team has consistently been one of the top Age Group programs in Connecticut Swimming. Swimmers in the BEAR program are prepared to help them meet their individual goals, and the emphasis is on developing strong, well-rounded swimmers who are capable of competing in all strokes and all distances. BEAR swimmers work on technique in all four strokes, and also receive a strong training background which is necessary to compete at a high level. The team's head coach is a member of the American Swim Coaches Association, and keeps up with the latest in stroke techniques and training theories. The emphasis of the program has always been a long term approach to swimming, which will lead to our athletes receiving the necessary background to compete at a Senior level and eventually in college. The coaching staff does not believe in the "magic wand" theory of coaching, and feels that success in swimming is a result of proper instruction and dedication. There are no shortcuts or magic wands. Aquabear swimmers work hard, swim smart, and train in an environment that makes success inevitable. Individual attention to each swimmer is a big part of the BEAR program, and nobody gets lost or ignored, regardless of ability level. If a child wants to get better, they will have the opportunity to do it. Training with the Aquabears is also a great opportunity to have fun and make friends. The social aspect of swimming is very important, and the team tries to schedule fun activities whenever possible. Many long-term friendships have started on the Aquabears, and many of our Aquabear traditions keep the fun in swimming. If a child wants to have a lot of fun but is also serious about wanting to become a good swimmer, the Aquabear team is the perfect place to be.
