Summary

Canadian Livestock Transport

Founded in 2007

Description

The Certified Livestock Transporter (CLT) program is a comprehensive training course and support service for livestock truckers, shippers and receivers. It focuses on the humane and safe relocation of livestock and the regulatory requirements for Canada and the US. The CLT Training Program offers core content for all species and breakout modules for BEEF, HOGS, HORSES, SHEEP & POULTRY. CLT offers species-specific customized training on livestock handling, loading and biosecurity. It includes recognizing and dealing with livestock not fit to be transported and emergency accident response. CLT provides truckers with a toll free line (1-800-506-2273) to report on concerns and seek advice if needed. As part of this CLT Information Exchange service, truckers will be notified of any regulator updates, security issues and other professional development workshops. As an additional bonus for hog haulers, you can obtain both the TQA and CLT certificates in one training session. The CLT course is the perfect compliment to the National (USA) Pork Board's Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) program. CLT addresses Canadian laws, trucking and weather conditions, specific meat plant needs and compromised (unfit) animal policies for Canada. All truckers who wish to be TQA certified must write the TQA test that is then forwarded to the National Pork Board.
