Since 2012, BD&P has provided the funding necessary for CHF to develop and conduct a demographic survey of homelessness in Calgary. This Point in Time Count was conducted in both winter and summer of 2012 in order to establish a baseline and will continue to be conducted each year in alternating seasons to provide a snapshot of the effectiveness of the Plan. Additionally BD&P provides the funds necessary for CHF to host a biannual Community Summits and Research Symposium which serve to bring together key stakeholders in the Plan: researchers, academics, community members, service providers and all levels of government. The Research Symposium operates in close collaboration with the University of Calgary and is an opportunity for researchers to share their findings on topics that affect homelessness and lead to prevention. The Community Summit brings international experts in the area of homelessness to Calgary to provide a learning and collaboration opportunity for stakeholders in the Plan.
